I just noticed that Slack updated their logo (apparently this went out yesterday but I only just now saw it hit my screen). It's definitely a newer/simpler look and they include a whole blog piece on the new design.
I'm no designer but I can see why they made the choice; it'll be a few days for me to get used to the new visual cue on my phone but I sort of like it.
