Remote work journey - Day 9

General

The second day of the 2nd week was sadly more intense and stressful. We tried to stay more at home as the weather wasn't nice so the kids were also stresse from that situation.

Besides that work feels like a good way to get my mind away from this whole corona , covid-19 topic. I've realized that stms I end up for 30 minutes reading and writing people. Mainly, telling them to stop spreading fake news or educating them, why the video / article they share is scientifically wrong and more conspiracy.

And I'm writing my Tuesday wrap-up on a Friday morning πŸ˜ƒ.

PS.: I'm recommending this Spotify Playlist for calm + focused music

Work

Tomorrow, we will have our first full remote All Hands and I will also do a short 5-7 min presentation about my experience and challenges so far.

I will summarize it in a blogpost when summarizing the next day.

The good thing today, no meetings, only standup. I realize as I'm having regular work and off times when I end up in an AMA for 90 minutes listening, I'm not doing much or can't be really productive.

TIL

This one is difficult as I have to remember back πŸ˜…

Github Enterprise also has Draft PR's and now finally I've started using them. I'm not actively learning it, but I will start moving to the "WIP" PR mindset instead of "Hey, It's done, check it out." Pull-Request. I highly recommend people to think about the how a discussion would change when we start creating a PR early on, share it with others and get feedback early and constantly.

Paul Adams (Ex-Zalando OSS Lead) had (in 2018) a really great talk about it:

It is about rather "outdated" parts from Zalando Tech, but I still believe Radical Agility, Autonomy and the other Pillars are still an important part of any tech culture.
