Column Chart is used to compare values across different categories. This type of chart is plotted using vertical bars. It is one of the good ways to show change over time. This is very easy to compare the column lengths. It is used to plot both nominal (values are classified) and ordinal (values are classified and ordered) data.   • Open the workbook where you want to create the bar chart.
  • Then, select the data range that you want to chart based on.

  • Then, you need to click the 2-D column to create a chart.

Pros:

  • It is easy to read.
  • Simple and versatile.
  • Easy to add data labels at the end of the bars.

Cons:

  • It becomes cluttered with too many categories.
  • Clustered Column charts are difficult to understand.
