- Saturday : Got the horrible news that Ruth Bader Ginsburg had passed the night before. 2020 continues to be a horrible year. Did my laundry, cancelled the Internet at the old house, filled out a form to have my ballot sent to my folks house, and worked on my side project. When it was time to do the radio show, I ran into all types of technical issues. One being that I wasn't able to call my co-host from my iPod Touch. Worked everytime before, but for some reason, Google Hangouts wouldn't connect. Good thing I had my Pixel 4a and that it has a headphone jack because I used that to pipe in my co-host. Sunday : Finished up the post radio show promotional tasks. Worked on my side project. Got it working to where if a status for an event is set to "live" it shows up on the front page and when the user clicks the event, the event tab appears and shows the video player and a space for the chat / q's section. Now since the video stream I'll be using is an HLS stream and most browsers don't support it I found a library that is able to play it. So, I'll only load that library if the event is being live streamed and that only happens if there is a value for the livestream key in the event object when the event has started. I'm thinking that if a user goes to the page and the live stream hasn't started yet, I'll periodically ping the API for the event and switch to the live tab when the status is live and there is a value for the livestream key. That should work. I still need to figure out the chat and ask questions section.
Professional : Today I had a couple of meetings and spent most of it planning out the video tutorial I'll be recording. It's amazing how different things change when it goes from written to video. There's things I need to explain a little more with video. Got a lot of stuff so it should be pretty through. Don't know why I make it so hard for myself. haha.
Personal : The final thing I ordered finally arrived at my parents' place. I'll be able to head back out tomorrow. I noticed that I haven't gotten any updates on the parts I ordered over a week ago and that the order doesn't show in my account on the site. I have a confirmation email and they took the money out of my account. I sent an email so we'll see what they say.
Going to finish up the script for the video tutorial. I want to try and get a second set of eyes on it before I go and do all this recording just to be told to redo things. If I have time, I'll see if I can finish up the live video section of the site by implementing that library.
