Yep, back in the DotCom days we were desperate to find devs, so we hired a young guy with no experience (I think he was right out of uni). I pushed my boss to let me pair program with him for a while (3 weeks IIRC). It was great. After about a week he started asking smart questions; after two weeks I let him drive. He ended up being one of our better hires.
That's an awesome story! He must have been so lucky to be able to pair program with you :D
Actually he also helped me. It's like the old saying, if you really want to know a subject, teach it.
