Hats off to the Class of 2020!

Graduation during any year is an accomplishment to recognize and be proud of, but we can probably all agree that the Class of 2020 deserves an extra victory lap.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced all of us to physically distance, which has meant virtual classes and less time to enjoy face-to-face time with peers. Additionally, many students have been showing up at Black Lives Matter protests in their caps and gowns to show their opposition to systemic racism and support of Black people, especially in the U.S. If our future is in the hands of the Class of 2020, we're headed in a good direction!

To give these grads a special sendoff, we partnered with GitHub to mail swag to graduates all across the globe that participated in the Class of 2020 Yearbook. And if you shared your projects with us, you’ll be getting a special DEV badge on your profile soon.

Today, GitHub is live-streaming a remote graduation ceremony at 9:00 AM PDT (4:00 PM UTC). Tune in for special speeches and to support the students and projects that are highlighted!

👉 Watch the Live Stream 👈

As part of the celebration, we also wanted to highlight a few graduates and the inspiring final projects they shared on DEV. Help us celebrate the class of 2020! 🎓

In no particular order...

Maitree Rawat, Improving Traffic Safety in India

Seb Jachec, Tracking Personal Carbon Footprints

Ishween Kaur, Female Empowerment and Connection

Dare Victor Adebayo, Lessening Economic Burdens on Farmers

Megan, Sales Support for Small Bakery Businesses

Olivia Chang, Making Skating More Introvert-Friendly

Luisa Marieth Morales, Clarifying COVID-19 Data

...and so many more amazing projects!

Thanks to all of you grads (i.e. future leaders) who submitted your projects and reflections over the past few weeks. HUGE Congratulations! 🎉

GitHub yearbook here. A reminder that all GitHub x DEV year book participants will also get swag delivered straight to their door! 🎁
