I've been lucky enough that my first (and only ATM) interview was made by one of the lead devs and not some HR who knows nothing about programming or such. He asked me what languages I know, did I have any experience working with real/production projects - he counted my contributions to open source projects as real life experience and asked some stuff about Python (I demonstrated my contributions to him, he asked about classes and inheritance). That's all. Next week I entered the office, set up my workspace and started working.
