I've had a similar attitude about tech, sorta. I like to work on side projects, for myself that I know I'll use. Within that, I'll generally try a new tech out, but a majority of what I build I make sure to use all my old faithful tools. In that regard, I still get to explore, but I'm still incredibly productive in my stack. (current love Rails API + SvelteKit frontend).
