I thought the rules were about competence. I thought the engineers at Google were Feynman level geniuses. I thought anyone that knew C/C++ was smarter than someone who just knew Ruby and web technologies. I thought I could find mentors. I was wrong about all of it.
Technology is like any other field popupated with people. There is nothing special about it. Anyone can learn how to write code and to hack on hardware. But I'm not saying it's a meritocracy, far from it. Just like every other field there is plenty of gate keeping and toxic behavior that is not going away any time soon.
We're a place where coders share, stay up-to-date and grow their careers.
We strive for transparency and don't collect excess data.
