I think it is true for other knowledge workers, however; I think a great deal of people think it is no big deal to interrupt someone who is programming. I used to work in a division with a boss who said to walk to people's desks to ask questions. This meant 10 interruptions every single day. It was maddening, even when I planned out my changes.
