I went from traveling all over the United States asking people what they ate the day before to coding for a living (sort of). You can now find me writing here on Dev.to about my current shenanigans!
Hi all! My name is Cris, coming to you from the not-so-glamourous-but-wonderful city of Lancaster, CA. I am a student with Flatiron School, currently in their online full-time software engineering program.
I'm here because I posted a blog to Medium about my first programming project not long ago, and while I liked the experience, I found myself wanting a more programming-friendly blog template. I saw someone else's dev blog and immediately loved it! It's also wonderful that it's a community solely dedicated to programming.
I am interested in becoming a great programmer and someday working on projects that improve the lives of people with disorders/disabilities. I am specifically interested in autism and, more recently, mental retardation, as I love someone diagnosed with both. Thankfully he had access to a great education and fabulous teachers and mentors, and is now an outstanding young man in community college. I can't even imagine what is possible for those who are diagnosed at a young age now during this time of rapid technological advancement!
I hope to be able to offer a beginner's perspective of software development. I know, as a beginner myself, how difficult it can be to read development posts written by seasoned veterans. I hope to give enough to be helpful, but not so much that it becomes convoluted to a novice.
Thanks for reading- let's be in touch!
