Django Sligo Workshop

I can't believe it's over a week and a bit since @micktwomey and I were in Sligo facilitating a Django Workshop mainly aimed at women interested in learning to code.

thanks giphy

We had a full house of participants and plenty of coaches to help people out. There were still some niggles to sort out in setting up machine for the workshop.

After welcomes and introductions, including a few words from our sponsor (Sligo Chambers Skillnet) by Geraldine, we got stuck into the workshop from introduction to the internets, command line and introduction to Python.

And just before lunch, Bruna went through some stretching exercises. It's important to look after yourself, especially when time seems to fly and you having been sitting down all morning!

Lunch was very nice and we event had dessert, and huge thanks to the organisers for looking after folks with dietary requirements!

As we wrapped up with Python and before we headed to the Django part of the workshop, we had the fireside chat with Emma and Bruna about their journey into tech. πŸ’–

Now it's @micktwomey up on stage going through the Django foundations.

πŸ™Œ After folks created their first Django app, Lucia brought us all through a meditation exercise, it was so good after a long day. πŸ₯°

Congrats to everyone who made their first Django app. We know there's more to cover in the tutorial, and as the content is also a self-driven workshop, you can still go through the material and if you get stuck... no worries, Coding Grace has a Discord server with a forum for your questions.
