I agree! Having projects which take off + meaningful open source contributions are a sure shot way to get noticed, which can convert into employment opportunities, or even your own startup!
Talking about contribution, there are very meaningful conversations in issues and I feel strongly there should be a way to showcase your contribution of solving repo issues without having to be manually added as a contributor to the repo.
