Title is misleading, it's not microservices that mess your team up, it's bad organization/lack of good practices, and that applies to everything that involves more than a person.
As for teams choosing a microservices architecture without needing it, well, obviously it happens. But again, it's not exclusive to microservices, any new shinny technology will make some team suffer just because they believed the hype.
