Discussion on: JavaScript Task Runners

I used to use gulp scripts for my projects, but now I either use an off the shelf hands off approach like angular-cli (1 config file with minimal configuration options) or npm scripts for full control and visibility.

I found anything in between is either not powerful enough, or not simple enough.

At the end of the day most multi-step tasks are just handled by a CI instance so most tasks being ran locally are just for development. Any multi step processes (like deployment) are managed via a CI config file to execute the necessary commands.

Gulp was cool and neat when I was starting out, but today managing gulp pipelines isn't anywhere near my top priorities anymore. I wont even consider thinking about a grunt pipeline either haha.
