I would add one word. You said "One thing that we can not do is communicate ANYTHING through the use of color". I would have said "One thing that we can not do is communicate anything SOLELY through the use of color." Communication through color is fine, and mightily effective for many people. Traffic lights are the perfect example, For most people they provide simple, clear indicators on which to take action. But for those with a color vision deficiency they still work because one can tell the indication from the relative positions of the lit and unlit lights.
