You only HAVE to use jQuery if you're going to use Bootstrap modals, dropdowns, etc. I do wish Bootstrap would come out with a tool like jQuery UI (jqueryui.com/download) that'll allow you to select which modules and pieces you want so the payload is much smaller and faster.
