It isn't about what's the best or easiest. Is about what your goals are. If you're going for web dev or backend (nodejs) then obviously learn JS. If you want to do only backend or use python for other things like ML, then learn python.
Python is easier to learn as a beginner and also a great systems language. In the long run, nodejs is better for web and microservices, though it's always down to the task at hand.

They both serve their own purposes, and they’re both marketable skills.
Why not try both and see which one you like best and focus on it?
If you know JavaScript, then go for node.
